Nobody Wants This star Tovah Feldshuh has criticised co-star Adam Brody’s public support for Palestine, strongly disputing his description of Israel’s actions in Gaza as genocide.

In an interview with the New York Post published on Sunday, Feldshuh responded to comments Brody made in a recent interview with GQ. The actor, who plays Rabbi Noah Roklov in the Netflix comedy series, said he believed the conflict amounted to genocide and expressed support for a free Palestine.

“Put me down as thinking it’s a genocide,” Brody said, adding that he wanted a free Palestine and describing the deaths and suffering as awful.

Feldshuh, who portrays Bina Roklov, Noah’s mother, rejected his characterisation of the conflict. “To accuse the Jewish people of genocide is wild. It’s right out of Hitler’s playbook,” she said, arguing that such accusations portrayed victims as perpetrators.

She also stressed the importance she places on Israel’s continued existence, saying she believes the state is crucial to the wellbeing of the democratic world. Feldshuh further expressed concern about what she described as a convergence between socialism and antisemitism.

Her remarks follow a separate response from Nobody Wants This creator Erin Foster, who addressed Brody’s position earlier this month. Speaking on the Not Skinny but Not Fat podcast, Foster said she disagreed with the actor’s views but believed colleagues could maintain different opinions while working together.

“I love Adam, I also disagree with him, and that’s OK,” Foster said, describing the show’s working environment as similar to dinner tables where people debate and disagree.

Brody has said the Israel and Gaza conflict comes up frequently in his private conversations, although he had not previously spoken publicly about it in the same way. His comments and the responses from Feldshuh and Foster have highlighted differing perspectives among people associated with the series.

Neither disagreement has been presented as a dispute over their professional relationship, with Foster emphasising that opposing political views can coexist among colleagues.
