RAWALPINDI:

The Punjab government has sought reports from police chiefs in six districts, including Rawalpindi, on the implementation of the plan to repatriate Afghan nationals residing illegally in Pakistan.

According to sources, the Punjab Home Department has directed the Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore and the district police chiefs of Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Sargodha and Muzaffargarh to take necessary action against illegally residing Afghan nationals in accordance with the policy of the Ministry of Interior and Narcotics Control.

The provincial government has also received a list of 24 complaints concerning Afghan families allegedly residing illegally in Pakistan. The complaints were forwarded by the control room of the federal government's National Crisis Information Management Cell in Islamabad.

The Home Department has instructed the relevant police officers to investigate the complaints, take appropriate action and submit compliance reports to the department at the earliest.

In response, Rawalpindi City Police Officer Hassan Mushtaq Sukhera has issued instructions to the divisional superintendents of police (SPs) overseeing the Rawal, Potohar and Saddar divisions to submit reports on action taken under the repatriation plan within three days. The reports will subsequently be forwarded to the relevant authorities.

Sources said the list of 24 individuals had also been shared with the respective district police chiefs. It contains the names and contact numbers of complainants and callers, the cities and police stations concerned, and details of Afghan nationals allegedly residing illegally in various parts of the province.

Meanwhile, Rawalpindi district police and the Special Branch are continuing their operations against Afghan nationals residing illegally in the district.

Earlier this week, acting on information provided by the Special Branch, police detained an Afghan national and transferred him to a refugee centre for further legal proceedings.

During questioning, the man reportedly said he worked at a shoe shop in Raja Bazaar, while his family lived in Afghanistan. He also acknowledged that he did not possess a valid visa to stay in Pakistan.

Man held for blackmailing woman

The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has arrested a suspect for blackmailing a woman. According to officials, a complaint filed by the woman alleged that the suspect, having gained her trust, secretly recorded an indecent video of her and subsequently sent it to her family.

An inquiry revealed that the suspect had sent the alleged video to the victim's family from an anonymous mobile number. Furthermore, a technical analysis of the suspect's mobile phone and laptop uncovered objectionable chat logs.
