HYDERABAD:

Prices of the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) have begun to fall in Hyderabad, with the per-kilogram rate dropping by Rs20 to Rs30 in some areas of the city in a single day.

Retail prices, previously around Rs550 per kilogram, have fallen to between Rs520 and Rs530, as reported at different shop. Shopkeepers attributed the decline to an LPG shipment docking at the port. They said distributors had been supplying LPG from plants at Rs520 per kilogram, but lowered the rate to Rs490 on Monday, prompting the retail price cuts.

The report noted that OGRA had set the official price for domestic consumers at Rs279.34 per kilogram for the current month. However, consumers and rickshaw drivers continue to face hardship because retail prices have not fallen to an affordable level, and many are using LPG sparingly.
