Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei met parliament speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf on Wednesday to review developments in the US-Israeli war, state broadcaster IRIB reported, as Tehran signalled conditional openness to diplomacy.
The news came as explosions were reported in southern Iran amid growing concerns over a possible resumption of regional hostilities. Iranian media reported explosions in Sirik, a town in southern Iran. The nature and origin of the explosions were not immediately known, and no further details were available. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said Tehran was prepared to give diplomacy another chance if it saw strong evidence that Washington genuinely wanted to build trust and reach a just solution. His remarks indicated that Iran remained open to negotiations.
