'We're children of incest': Dylan Sprouse's comment about family tree prompts reaction from twin Cole

Dylan Sprouse has joked that he and his twin brother, Cole Sprouse, are “children of incest” after discovering unexpected connections between their families through genealogy programme Ancestry. Cole subsequently reacted to the headline on Instagram.

Speaking on Tuesday’s episode of the Wildmen Podcast, the 34-year-old actor explained that he had connected with relatives he had never met because of divisions within his father’s side of the family.

Dylan said both sides of his family had been in California during the Gold Rush, with their family lines eventually connecting through marriage in the 1800s.

He also revealed that his family tree included seven sets of twins across four generations.

“The reason we have a lot of twins is because it’s the same family!” he said, before concluding, “Long story short, Cole and I are children of incest.”

Dylan also shared other unusual family stories, including an account of an aunt whose cyst reportedly contained teeth and hair. He added jokingly that he did not “have webbed toes”.

Cole, 34, responded to the coverage in an Instagram Story on October 20.

Sharing a screenshot of the headline, the Riverdale actor wrote, “No media training on earth can prep you to read this clickbait headline at 10am.”

The brothers rose to fame playing Zack and Cody Martin in the Disney Channel sitcom The Suite Life of Zack & Cody.

Dylan recently welcomed his first child, a daughter named Sylvie, with his wife, model Barbara Palvin. The couple announced the arrival of their daughter last month.
