American Horror Story has been renewed for season 14 at FX, with the announcement arriving ahead of the season 13 finale scheduled for October 29.

Created by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, the horror anthology series continues its run as FX’s longest-running hour-long series. The renewal follows a strong streaming debut for its latest instalment, which attracted four million views in its first four days, marking the best streaming performance for a premiere in the franchise’s history.

Season 13 also marked the series’ return after a three-year gap following the 2023 premiere of season 12, titled Delicate. The latest season brings back several familiar faces from across the anthology’s history, including Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, Gabourey Sidibe and Leslie Grossman.

Other returning cast members include Frances Conroy, Jamie Brewer, John Carroll Lynch, Mena Suvari, Mat Fraser and Seth Gabel, who previously appeared in the franchise’s spin-off, American Horror Stories.

The new season also introduces performers to the American Horror Story universe, including Joey Pollari, Avantika, Elle Chapman, Berto Colon, Alex Consani, Orlando Jones, Paul Anthony Kelly, Tig Notaro, Madelaine Petsch, Fedor Steer, Zach Villa and John Waters.

Pollari plays a hospice care worker who has a phobia of the number 13 and is assigned to care for characters from previous seasons, providing a storyline that brings multiple generations of the horror franchise together.

Since its debut in 2011, American Horror Story has generated more than two billion hours of engagement, according to FX. The series is executive produced by Murphy, Falchuk, Ned Martel, Charlie Carver, Eric Kovtun, Nissa Diederich, Scott Robertson, Tanase Popa, Crystle Roberson Dorsey, Jennifer Salt and Tim Minear.

20th Television serves as the studio behind the long-running anthology.
