Pamela Anderson is standing by her personal definition of beauty, explaining that she refuses to let other people dictate how she should look as she continues her largely makeup free lifestyle.

In an interview with PEOPLE published on October 19, 2026, the The Last Showgirl actress described beauty as “so subjective” while discussing the latest launch from her beauty brand, Sonsie.

“When I think about beauty, I think of ancient beauty,” Anderson said, adding that modern perceptions are heavily influenced by what people are repeatedly shown. For her, beauty is not simply about looking attractive but about having an inner radiance.

“I will not be told what beautiful is,” she said. “I have my own version of beauty, and it’s ageless. And it’s not comparative to other people.”

Anderson’s approach to makeup gained widespread attention in 2023, when she appeared barefaced during Paris Fashion Week. The decision marked a personal shift after the death of her longtime makeup artist, Alexis Vogel, in 2019.

The actress previously explained that wearing makeup no longer felt right without Vogel, whom she described as the best. She also said that appearing without makeup brought a sense of freedom, allowing her outfits to take centre stage without feeling compelled to compete for attention.

Anderson has since spoken about how people have connected with her decision, saying the experience reinforces the idea that people should feel good enough as they are.

She also considers stepping away from conventional beauty expectations somewhat rebellious, particularly in an industry where stylists and glamour teams often shape public appearances.

However, her approach does not mean she has abandoned makeup entirely. Anderson still enjoys experimenting with different looks and occasionally adds glamour for public appearances. For everyday wear, she says mascara works well with Sonsie Basic Balm.

Her philosophy centres on personal choice rather than following trends, allowing her to decide when makeup feels right and when she prefers to go without it.
