The Sindh cabinet will be briefed on the judicial commission's report into the death of Mir Raza Ali at a meeting scheduled to be held under Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah today (on Tuesday), with the provincial government expected to decide its next course of action on the report.
The cabinet meeting, scheduled for 11am, will also take up agenda items relating to the local government, finance, energy and agriculture departments.
Earlier, Mir Raza's family had demanded that the government hand over the commission's report to them and make it public, warning that they would approach the court if it was withheld.
Speaking at the Sindh High Court on Monday, Mir Raza's father, Mir Hussain Ali, and family counsel Advocate Jibran Nasir called for the formation of a Joint Investigation Team (JIT), alleging that the police investigation had been compromised and that authorities had failed to keep the family informed.
Jibran Nasir said the family had written to the chief minister on October 12 seeking a copy of the report but had received no response. He questioned the rationale for keeping the findings confidential and urged the government not to shield the police from scrutiny.
