Labourer dies after workplace brawl
A labourer died of injuries sustained during a scuffle at a private housing society in the Rwat police station's jurisdiction, prompting police to register a murder case.
According to the FIR, Ali Mir said his 18-year-old son, Qaiser Ali, had been working at BM Milk Shop in Phase-VIII for the past five years.
He said he received a call from his son's colleague, Mohsin, last night informing him that Qaiser had been involved in a fight and had fallen unconscious. While travelling from his native area to Rawalpindi, he learnt that his son had died.
Upon reaching the District Headquarters Hospital with Mir Rashid and Muhammad Nadeem, he was told by shop owner Malik Muhammad Javed that Qaiser had quarrelled with another worker, Muhammad Siddiq Khan. During the altercation, Siddiq allegedly pulled Qaiser, causing him to strike the counter and lose consciousness.
Qaiser was initially taken to a hospital and later referred to Benazir Bhutto Hospital, where he died during treatment.
The complainant alleged that Siddiq and Qaiser had exchanged heated words and fought two or three days earlier, claiming that the subsequent altercation led to his son's death.
