ISLAMABAD:

The defence on Monday urged the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to halt trial proceedings against lawyer Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chatha, alleging procedural violations in the framing of charges and arguing that the accused had not been physically present when they were indicted.

The court was hearing appeals filed by Imaan and Hadi against the anti-terrorism court's (ATC) dismissal of their applications challenging their indictment and the terrorism charges in a case related to the removal of barriers. Imaan and Hadi were rearrested on September 17, shortly after the Supreme Court granted them bail and suspended their sentences in a separate social-media posts case.
