PRA to hold tax awareness sessions

LAHORE:

Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) Chairman Moazzam Iqbal Sipra has directed that special awareness sessions be organised to educate the business community about tax laws and procedures, according to a statement issued on Monday.

The direction came during a meeting with a Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry delegation to discuss issues faced by freight forwarders and taxation matters. The meeting focused on addressing challenges faced by the business community and exploring measures to improve the tax system.

Delegation members assured the chairman that the chamber would support the PRA in promoting business registration and expanding the tax net.

Sipra said efforts would be made to strengthen guidance and facilitation for the business community regarding sales tax on services. He said digital systems were being used to enhance convenience, transparency and effective monitoring of tax-related matters.

He emphasised that stakeholder suggestions would be given due importance to make the tax system more business-friendly. Cooperation from the business community, he added, was essential for expanding the tax net and improving compliance with tax laws.
