Jason Sudeikis has offered an update on the possibility of Ted Lasso returning for a fifth and sixth season, revealing that discussions about continuing the Apple TV comedy have not yet progressed to a writers’ room.
Speaking on the Talk Easy with Sam Fragoso podcast, the actor and co-creator said he would be interested in making more episodes but acknowledged that several factors would need to align.
Asked whether he wanted to continue the series, Sudeikis replied that he “would like to”, adding that “it takes a village”.
He also suggested Apple could be receptive to another season, saying, “I would assume so.”
However, the actor stopped short of confirming any plans for the show’s future. When pressed about whether more episodes would be made, he admitted, “I just don’t know,” before clarifying, “We haven’t started a writers’ room or anything like that.”
Sudeikis also reflected on how the series continued beyond his original expectations.
He had previously believed the third season would mark the end of the story, before the show returned for a fourth instalment.
During the podcast conversation, host Sam Fragoso asked whether the creative process behind the fourth season could inspire two more instalments.
Sudeikis responded humorously, “Um, we’re going to need a bigger cup.”
The actor explained that, after taking a lengthy break following season 3, he began hearing the characters’ voices again, followed by new voices that helped shape the women’s team members.
“I think it’d be fun,” Sudeikis said, leaving the door open to a possible continuation.
For now, Ted Lasso Seasons 5 and 6 remain unconfirmed, with no writers’ room currently underway.
