McKenna Grace has left fans comparing her to Rapunzel after showcasing a fairytale-inspired hairstyle during the promotional tour for The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.
The 20-year-old actress wore her long blonde hair in cascading waves decorated with tiny flowers and colourful butterflies. Several delicate braids completed the look, creating a whimsical style reminiscent of Disney's animated princess from Tangled.
Fans quickly took to social media to share their reactions, with one fan account calling Grace a “real-life Rapunzel” and another saying she looked as though she had stepped straight out of a fairytale.
The comparisons are particularly fitting given Grace's long-standing love for Tangled. During a 2024 interview with Capital Buzz, the Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire star revealed that playing a Disney princess had been one of her childhood dreams. She specifically named Rapunzel as a role she would love to portray, describing Tangled as one of her favourite films and admitting she was “so obsessed” with it.
Grace subsequently became a popular fan choice for Disney's live-action adaptation of Tangled. However, there has been no confirmed evidence that she auditioned for the role, which ultimately went to Teagan Croft.
Although Grace will not be playing Rapunzel on screen for now, her latest appearance has given fans another reason to draw parallels between the actress and the beloved animated character.
Her fairytale-inspired hairstyle is only the latest standout moment from her Sunrise on the Reaping promotional wardrobe. During the film's Sydney launch, Grace wore a pale pink gown by House of Gilles, continuing the romantic aesthetic that has become a talking point throughout the press tour.
Grace stars as Maysilee Donner in the upcoming Hunger Games prequel, based on Suzanne Collins' novel. The story takes place 24 years before the original film series and follows a young Haymitch Abernathy, played by Joseph Zada, as he enters the 50th Hunger Games, also known as the Second Quarter Quell.
Maysilee is one of the tributes from District 12 and has an important connection to the franchise's history as the original owner of the Mockingjay pin later worn by Katniss Everdeen, portrayed by Jennifer Lawrence in the original films.
Directed by Francis Lawrence, The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping also stars Ralph Fiennes, Glenn Close, Kieran Culkin, Elle Fanning and Jesse Plemons. The film is scheduled to arrive in US cinemas on November 20, 2026.
For now, Grace's latest look has given fans a glimpse of her fairytale-inspired style while anticipation continues to build for her return to the world of Panem.
