The Sindh government has signed 34 memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with Pakistani and Chinese investors at an investment conference in Shanghai, including 10 government-to-government (G2G) agreements and 24 business-to-business (B2B) agreements, Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said on Thursday.
In a video statement, Sharjeel said the agreements covered several sectors, including energy, coal and higher education, and were aimed at promoting economic cooperation between Pakistan and China.
He said the conference highlighted investment opportunities in Sindh, with Chinese investors expressing interest in establishing industrial units at the Dhabeji Special Economic Zone, which forms part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
According to Sharjeel, investment in the zone could help expand industrial activity, generate employment and strengthen the provincial economy. He added that establishing local industries could also reduce reliance on imports.
