RJ Mitte’s final film, Cassi, has been completed, but the actor did not get the chance to watch the finished version before his death, according to TMZ.

Producer Josh Webber told the outlet that Mitte had watched an earlier rough cut of the film but never saw the completed version. The actor, best known for playing Walter White Jr. in Breaking Bad, finished filming the project in 2023, although several obstacles delayed its completion.

According to Webber, Mitte continued supporting the film and its team throughout the setbacks, standing by the people and departments involved in bringing the project to the screen.

The producer described Cassi as a significant opportunity for Mitte, praising his performance opposite actress Dove Cameron. Webber said it was particularly difficult to know that the actor would not be present when the film is released or experience the recognition he believed Mitte deserved.

Cassi is scheduled to be released in early 2027. Further details about the film’s release plans have not been announced in the report.

Mitte gained widespread recognition for his role as Walter White Jr., the son of Bryan Cranston’s character, in the acclaimed crime drama Breaking Bad. His performance made him a familiar face to audiences around the world.

News of the film’s completion comes as colleagues and loved ones continue to remember the actor following his death. His former Breaking Bad co-star Aaron Paul recently paid tribute to him, expressing sadness over his loss.

Although Mitte will not see the final version of Cassi, the upcoming release will give audiences another opportunity to watch one of his final performances on screen.
