Critical Role announces canon miniseries with Hololive VTubers

Critical Role and Hololive will launch 'Shattered Legends', canon Exandria miniseries using Daggerheart RPG

Critical Role is partnering with Japanese virtual YouTuber agency Hololive Production for Shattered Legends, a new actual play miniseries set in the world of Exandria.

The series is scheduled to premiere in mid-November 2026 on YouTube and Critical Role’s streaming platform, Beacon.

According to the announcement, Shattered Legends will be canon to Exandria, the setting of Critical Role’s first three campaigns: Vox Machina, The Mighty Nein and Bells Hells. This means the miniseries could feature connections to established characters from those adventures.

Unlike the main campaigns, Shattered Legends will use Daggerheart, the tabletop role-playing game published by Critical Role’s publishing arm, Darrington Press.

Critical Role co-founder Matthew Mercer will serve as Game Master, while fellow co-founder Marisha Ray will join the players. She will be accompanied by four Hololive talents: Nerissa Ravencroft, Mori Calliope, Shiori Novella and Gig Murin.

The production will bring together in-person actual play and digital avatars, although details of how the two formats will be integrated have not yet been confirmed.

Viewers will be able to watch episodes on Beacon, with additional content including a “Session Zero” covering character creation and backstories, as well as post-episode “Cooldown” discussions.

Episodes will also be published on the official YouTube channels of Critical Role, Nerissa Ravencroft and Hololive English.

The collaboration will extend beyond the series itself. Critical Role and Hololive have plans for a promotional tour at conventions across North America, Europe and Asia, alongside exclusive merchandise and other collaborations. Further details are expected to be announced later.

Shattered Legends follows Age of Umbra: Sallowlands as another project featuring Daggerheart. The series is expected to debut in mid-November 2026 on Beacon and YouTube.
