K-P trainee doctors end 37-day protest

PESHAWAR:

More than 6,000 trainee and house officer doctors in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa have called off their 37-day protest and boycott of services at government hospitals following assurances from Governor Faisal Karim Kundi that their demands would be considered.

The doctors had been demanding an increase in their monthly stipends and had been boycotting hospital services while staging daily demonstrations in the outpatient departments (OPDs) of major public-sector hospitals.

The prolonged protest had disrupted services and caused difficulties for patients seeking treatment at government hospitals.
