ADC's husband gets bail in assault case
A civil court on Tuesday granted bail for a second time to Javed Ali, the arrested husband of Additional Deputy Commissioner (Headquarters) Maliha Sahar, who is accused of assaulting her, confining her to a room, threatening to abduct their children and issuing threats of serious consequences.
Civil Judge Asim Mumtaz approved the bail and directed the accused to furnish surety bonds worth Rs50,000.
ADC Maliha had got a case registered against her husband at the Civil Lines Police Station last week. Initially, the police had included only bailable offences in the case, allowing the accused to secure bail at his first court appearance.
Following his release on bail, however, the police added Section 506(ii) of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), relating to criminal intimidation involving threats of death or grievous hurt, making the relevant charge non-bailable. The accused was subsequently arrested again. After spending two days in police custody on physical remand, he was sent to jail on judicial remand.
On Tuesday, the civil court granted bail to Ali again after considering the additional charges. The surety bonds were subsequently submitted, and he was released from Adiala Jail in the evening. The dispute between the ADC and her husband has reportedly intensified.
