Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are preparing for their first official joint outing in the United Kingdom since returning to Britain with their children in August 2026.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will visit Nottingham on Thursday, October 15, as they resume their charitable work and public engagements.
A source close to the couple told PEOPLE that Harry and Meghan initially prioritised helping their children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, adjust to their new surroundings and settle into school.
“Now they’re both excited to focus more on their work and the projects that matter to them,” the source said.
During their Nottingham visit, the couple will meet organisations supporting young people and local communities. Meghan is expected to reunite with women from London's Hubb Community Kitchen, whom she worked with on the 2018 charity cookbook Together: Our Community Cookbook.
The Duke and Duchess will also visit the Community Recording Studio, which supports young people affected by violence, and Epic Partners, an organisation that provides mentoring and sports opportunities.
The visit marks a return to Nottingham, where Harry and Meghan made their first official joint appearance following their engagement announcement in November 2017.
Since returning to Britain, Meghan has gradually resumed public activities while maintaining contact with friends in Montecito, California. She recently met Malala Yousafzai in London and collaborated on a sweatshirt supporting Moms Offering More, a nonprofit that assists mothers and families.
Prince Harry has also continued his charitable engagements, attending the Invictus Spirit Gala Dinner and Awards and the WellChild Awards. He recently returned to the United States to speak at the Clinton Global Initiative meeting.
The couple continue to balance their professional commitments with family life while keeping details of their U.K. residence private. They also retain their home in Montecito, where they settled after stepping back from their roles as working members of the royal family in 2020.
However, their return has not resolved tensions within the royal family. Harry and Prince William remain estranged, with reports indicating that the brothers are not in direct contact.
