A little tipsy: Former occupant lays claim to AJK PM House
Former premier’s son crashes through gate, abuses employees.
ISLAMABAD:
Former Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Sardar Attique Ahmed’s son crashed his car into the gate of the AJK Prime Minister’s House in Islamabad on Thursday and misbehaved with officials there, sources told The Express Tribune.
“Sardar Affan Attique crashed into the gate at around 10:15 am. He was apparently drunk and misbehaved with the staff,” a source said.
The sources said that Attique went into the garage in a car bearing an official number plate and started doing doughnuts (driving in circles at high-speed to create circular skid marks) until two tyres burst out. Following this, Attique entered the kitchen and locked the door from inside.
“The whole drama took place while AJK Prime Minister Chaudhry Abdul Majeed was present on the upper floor of the building,” a source said, adding that Attique shouted at the staff using foul language. The former prime minister’s son, sources maintained, then began shouting that his father is still the Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and the residence belongs to him.
Security personnel later subdued Attique and escorted him out of the building.
Around an hour later, another person carrying the visiting card of a top Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader also tried to enter the AJK Prime Minister’s House.
The AJK PM chaired a meeting on the matter later in the day, wherein the chief secretary removed the entire security staff of the Prime Minister’s House in the capital, comprising 64 people.
“The entire security staff has been changed, besides increasing the number of security personnel,” sources said. Moreover, an inquiry has also been ordered to ascertain how the former premier’s son managed to get inside the sensitive building.
The Express Tribune made several unfruitful attempts to contact Sardar Attique Ahmed.
