Water trouble: 10-hour power outage leads to water shortage

Unscheduled power outages in sectors I-9 and I-10 in the past two days have disrupted water supply to the residents.

Asfar, a resident of I-10, said, “The most annoying thing is that water is supplied by the CDA water service on repeated requests.”
Director General Water Management Wing Sanaullah Aman said that the water supply was disrupted due to 10 hours of power outage at the express feeder installed in Sector I-9.
He said the express feeder was installed at a cost of Rs10 million to meet the growing demand of water in sector I-9 and I-10. The feeder provides electricity to 22 tube wells; even though the Islamabad Electric Supply Company agreed to exempt the feeder from power outages, they have been cutting power for the past few days, he added.
Aman said that CDA, under its ongoing campaign to save water, has identified around 450 illegal connections out of which 200 connections have been disconnected.
