President issues stern warning to Afghan Taliban

ISLAMABAD:

President Asif Ali Zardari on Sunday warned the "illegal and unrepresentative" Afghan Taliban regime that mistaking Pakistan's patience, caution, and responsible behavior for weakness would be a "grave folly," stressing that Pakistan possessed the full capacity to eliminate infiltrating terrorists and destroy their patrons.

The president, in a statement, paid tribute to the security forces for successfully foiling an infiltration attempt by terrorists along the Pak-Afghan border in Kurram district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

The president said the Afghan regime's continued patronage and facilitation of terrorist elements posed a serious threat to regional peace and stability.
