Wladimir Klitschko is seeking permission to involve police in recovering jewellery he believes belonged to his late former partner, actress Hayden Panettiere, according to newly obtained court documents.

The retired Ukrainian boxer, who shares an 11-year-old daughter, Kaya, with Panettiere, claims that a non-family member previously connected to the actress pawned belongings that may have included her jewellery.

According to documents obtained by TMZ, the pawn shop has declined to disclose information about the items unless contacted directly by law enforcement.

Klitschko is asking a judge to authorise him, in his capacity as guardian of Kaya, to approve a police investigation into the missing jewellery. He believes the items could form part of his daughter’s inheritance.

The filing raises additional concerns about the protection of Panettiere’s estate. Klitschko alleges that emails he had been notified about were accessed and destroyed by non-family members.

According to the documents, a security company was hired to protect the actress’s home and its contents after concerns that someone had gained unauthorised access.

Following Panettiere’s death on August 16, the property’s locks were changed, while storage units containing her designer clothing were moved to prevent potential theft.

Panettiere, known for her roles in Heroes and other television and film projects, died aged 36. The report states that her death resulted from the effects of several substances, including fentanyl, 4-ANPP, alprazolam, methocarbamol and quetiapine, which led to cardiac arrest.

In the days following her death, Panettiere’s mother, Lesley Vogel, alleged to The New York Times that the actress’s former boyfriend, Brian Hickerson, had pawned some of her belongings before she died. An anonymous source reportedly corroborated Vogel’s claims.
