Sofía Vergara shares cryptic message after Joe Manganiello’s memoir claims
Sofía Vergara has shared a series of cryptic messages on Instagram days after her former husband, Joe Manganiello, made personal claims about their marriage in his memoir, Bloodlines.
On October 9, the Modern Family actress reposted an image originally shared by her son, Manolo Gonzalo Vergara, comparing a “good man” with a “narcissistic man”. She added a message suggesting that people dealing with narcissistic behaviour can be unfairly portrayed as the problem.
“Remember kids, when dealing with a narcissist, it doesn’t matter how much you do for them, because they will resent you for it and nothing will never be enough, and they’ll always somehow try to paint you as the bad guy,” Vergara wrote.
The actress did not name Manganiello in the post or explicitly connect the message to his memoir. Her timing, however, comes amid renewed attention on the former couple’s separation and their differing accounts of what contributed to the end of their marriage.
Vergara also shared a quote attributed to Tom Brady about the importance of being able to laugh at oneself. Adding her own commentary, she wrote, “Life’s too short to be too serious.”
Manganiello and Vergara married in 2015 and announced their separation in July 2023. Their divorce was finalised in 2024.
Vergara previously told Spanish newspaper El País that their differing views on having children contributed to the split. She said Manganiello wanted children, while she did not want to become an older mother.
In Bloodlines, Manganiello offers a different account of the circumstances surrounding their decision. He has discussed a prolonged autoimmune illness that caused severe abdominal pain and described the emotional difficulties he experienced during that period.
He has also disputed the idea that wanting children was the sole reason for their separation, saying his health struggles affected his perspective on parenthood.
Vergara’s latest posts do not directly address those specific claims. Neither message explicitly identifies her former husband, leaving the intended target of the remarks unconfirmed.
