Shakira breaks silence as Gerard Piqué dispute reaches court again
The former couple personally attended proceedings in Barcelona on October 6

Shakira and Gerard Piqué have returned to court four years after reaching a custody agreement following their 2022 separation, with the latest proceedings focused on arrangements involving their sons, Milan and Sasha.
Both Shakira and Piqué attended the proceedings at the Ciutat de la Justícia in Barcelona on October 6, according to HELLO!. The former couple appeared in person as the court considered a request concerning how their children travel between Miami and Barcelona.
Representatives for Shakira said the proposed changes would ask Piqué to travel to Miami during shorter holiday periods rather than requiring the boys to make transatlantic journeys for every visit. The singer’s representatives said the aim is to reduce travel and jet lag while allowing the children to maintain their school, social and family routines for longer.
The documents reportedly state that Shakira is not seeking to reduce the amount of time Milan and Sasha spend with their father. Instead, the proposal would change how travel responsibilities are handled between the former couple.
Shakira and Piqué began their relationship in 2010 after meeting during the FIFA World Cup in South Africa. They welcomed Milan in 2013 and Sasha in 2015 before announcing their separation in June 2022.
Months later, they reached a custody agreement that allowed Shakira to relocate with their sons to Miami, while Piqué remained based in Barcelona. The arrangement subsequently became the subject of further attention as the former couple managed their parenting responsibilities across two countries.
The latest proceedings come during a significant year for Shakira professionally. The singer has continued her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour and recently extended her Madrid residency with a final performance scheduled for October 12.
The Barcelona hearing marks another legal development between the former partners, although the current request concerns travel arrangements rather than a reduction in Piqué’s time with their children. Shakira’s representatives have stressed that the proposed changes are intended to support Milan and Sasha’s wellbeing and daily routines.
