Wladimir Klitschko is seeking law enforcement assistance over property belonging to his late former fiancée, Hayden Panettiere, amid his request for temporary guardianship of her estate.
In a new court filing obtained by PEOPLE, the former professional boxer alleged that a non-family member previously connected to Panettiere sold items belonging to her, which he believes included jewelry, to a pawn shop.
According to the filing, the pawn shop will not release the items without being contacted by law enforcement. Klitschko is asking authorities to investigate and help recover the property, citing the financial interests of his and Panettiere’s 11-year-old daughter, Kaya, whom court documents identify as Panettiere’s sole heir.
Panettiere died on August 16 at age 36 after she was found unresponsive at a residence in Greenville, South Carolina. First responders provided medical assistance at the scene, and an investigation into her death remains ongoing.
Klitschko previously filed a petition seeking temporary guardianship of Panettiere’s estate. He cited concerns that her belongings could be lost, damaged or otherwise dissipated before a permanent representative could be appointed.
In the filing, Klitschko also alleged that Panettiere had previously hired security after concerns that someone had gained unauthorised access to her property. He said the locks were changed and valuables, including designer clothing, were moved.
Klitschko and Panettiere began dating in 2008 and became engaged in 2013. They welcomed Kaya in 2014 before ending their relationship in 2018. Klitschko was granted full custody of their daughter after their split.
Following Panettiere’s death, Klitschko described the loss as a period of “profound shock and grief” for their family.
