HYDERABAD:

A court has remanded three suspects arrested in the murder case of Hindu trader Naresh Kumar to police custody for another five days.

Tando Yousuf police produced suspects Waqas Mughal, Asad Ali Dhamach and Shoaib Malik before the Ninth Civil Judge and Judicial Magistrate, Hyderabad, after the expiry of their previous remand. The investigating officer also submitted a progress report and requested further physical remand, stating that the investigation was still incomplete.

The court granted the request and handed the three suspects over to Tando Yousuf police for another five days. According to police, the investigation so far suggested that local trader Waqas Malik allegedly planned the murder. Police alleged that Shoaib Malik facilitated a meeting between Malik and alleged contract killer Asad Ali Dhamach, where payment for the killing was reportedly agreed upon. Police further alleged that Shoaib arranged the weapon used in the crime.

Last week, a debt dispute allegedly ended in the killing of a 35-year-old Hindu trader whose bullet-riddled body was found in his abandoned car hours after he went missing. The police claimed that one of his close acquaintances hired a hitman to eliminate him over repayment of millions of rupees.

Suspect arrested after shootout

Naseem Nagar police arrested a suspect in an injured condition along with a weapon following an alleged encounter, while his accomplice managed to escape.

According to police, the encounter took place when officers were conducting checking in the area. An exchange of fire occurred between police and two suspects riding a motorcycle, during which officers arrested one suspect after he was injured. The arrested suspect was identified as Daniyal alias Manna Sheikh.

During preliminary interrogation, he allegedly told police that he and his accomplice were on their way to commit a crime. Police said the suspect's criminal record showed that he had previously been wanted or involved in cases including alleged police encounters, drug offences and kidnapping registered at various police stations in Hyderabad.
