Taylor Swift returns to No. 1 with ‘The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore’
Four new songs helped drive 173,000 equivalent album units in latest chart week

Taylor Swift has returned to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore, giving the album its 13th nonconsecutive week at the top.
The expanded edition, released September 25, adds four new songs to the original album: “Patient Zero”, “Babylon”, “Pink Clouding” and “Cleveland!”. Swift’s return to the summit follows the album’s previous 12 weeks at No. 1, with its most recent reign ending in January.
According to Billboard and Luminate, the Encore edition generated 173,000 equivalent album units during the latest chart week. Streaming accounted for the overwhelming majority, with 136,000 streaming equivalent album units representing 138.79 million official on demand streams. Traditional album sales contributed 21,000 units, with the expanded edition available digitally rather than through physical copies at the time of the chart tally.
The result marks another major chart achievement for Swift, whose previous record for weeks at No. 1 was set by The Tortured Poets Department. That album spent 17 nonconsecutive weeks at the summit. The Life of a Showgirl now ranks ahead of 1989 and Fearless, which each spent 11 weeks at No. 1.
The Encore release also arrived alongside a high profile music video for “Patient Zero”, featuring Dakota Johnson and Colin Farrell. The video premiered during the MTV Video Music Awards.
Swift’s original album was released in October 2025 and became her 15th Billboard 200 No. 1. It opened with 4.002 million equivalent album units in its first week, according to Luminate data reported by Billboard, setting a record for the biggest weekly total in the chart’s history.
The latest chart result extends Showgirl’s commercial run nearly a year after its initial release and demonstrates the impact of the four newly released tracks on streaming activity. Billboard also reported that Swift’s “Patient Zero” was expected to compete for the No. 1 position on the Hot 100, with the full top 10 due later.
