Mark Ruffalo delivered a fiery warning to Donald Trump during a voting rights event in New York, telling the president to keep his hands off the vote before joking that he was going to “Hulk out”.

The Avengers star spoke at the Hands Off Our Vote event on Sunday night, where he urged supporters to remain engaged ahead of the November 3 midterm elections. The event also featured Robert De Niro and other speakers focused on voter participation and election protection.

Ruffalo described the election as a major moment and warned that efforts could be made to interfere with voters. He encouraged people to support Free Speech for People, an organisation involved in efforts concerning election security and voting systems.

He then turned his attention directly to Trump, calling on voters to oppose the president's policies and accusing his administration of trying to make people feel intimidated and powerless.

“We’re not going to let ’em,” Ruffalo told the crowd before addressing Trump directly. “Hands off our f***ing vote!”

The actor's comments drew a response from the audience, with someone shouting, “You tell ’em, Hulk!” The reference was to Ruffalo's long running role as Bruce Banner and the Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Ruffalo laughed before embracing the comparison, saying, “I’m gonna Hulk out. You won’t like me when I’m angry.” He also told the crowd that he remained involved and was still playing the Hulk.

Ruffalo ended his speech by urging supporters not to be afraid or discouraged. He stressed the importance of standing together, remaining brave and voting.

The appearance comes during an increasingly active period of political campaigning ahead of the midterms. Ruffalo has frequently used his public platform to comment on political and social issues.
