Ben Affleck has offered a candid update on his love life, saying dating is not currently a major focus as he concentrates on his children and work.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight at the Los Angeles premiere of Animals on October 2, the 54 year old actor and filmmaker said his schedule leaves little room for romance.

"I work a lot and I see my kids," Affleck said. "There’s not a lot of room. I’m not running around." He added that dating is "not a big priority in my life" at the moment.

Affleck also addressed recent speculation involving Shakira after The View co host Ana Navarro said she had considered setting the pair up following his split from Jennifer Lopez. Navarro previously said the idea came to her after seeing Matt Damon, Affleck’s longtime friend, at one of Shakira’s concerts.

When asked about the claim, Affleck said he had never heard about the proposed introduction. He also suggested that rumours surrounding his personal life often reach him through other people.

"I often hear rumours," he said, adding that some things are made up. Affleck also said he does not generally get set up on dates.

The actor described himself as "good" and "happy" with where he is in life. He explained that his children are his main priority, followed by his work, which he said he loves.

Affleck shares three children with former wife Jennifer Garner. Their divorce was finalised in 2018. He later rekindled his relationship with Lopez, whom he married in 2022 before their divorce was finalised in January 2025.

Although Affleck is not actively pursuing a relationship, he has not ruled out romance altogether. He said he is open to whatever adventures life may bring but is not trying to chase anything.

His comments come as he promotes Animals, which he directed, co wrote and stars in alongside Kerry Washington. The thriller is scheduled to arrive on Netflix on October 9.
