Jennifer Lawrence to star in Zach Cregger’s sci-fi thriller ‘The Flood’

The film is scheduled to release in 2028, with production expected to begin in Europe during the first months of 2027

Jennifer Lawrence is set to star in Zach Cregger’s upcoming sci-fi thriller The Flood, with New Line and Warner Bros. planning a theatrical release in 2028.

Cregger wrote the screenplay and will direct and produce the film, which is based on his original idea.

The Flood is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on August 11, 2028, with production expected to begin in Europe during the first months of 2027.

New Line acquired the project from Netflix earlier this year.

The studio previously worked with Cregger on his breakout horror film Weapons, while Amblin Entertainment is producing the new project alongside Cregger’s frequent collaborators Roy Lee and Miri Yoon of Vertigo Entertainment.

The film will mark Cregger’s next feature following his Resident Evil project.

Details about the plot and Lawrence’s character in The Flood have not been disclosed.

Lawrence remains attached to several high-profile projects.

The actress most recently earned a Golden Globe nomination for her performance in the post-partum drama Die My Love and is set to appear alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in What Happens at Night, directed by Martin Scorsese.
