Blast destroys hotel in Balochistan's Mastung, damages nearby houses

No casualties reported; more than 250 solar panels also damaged in the blast

A local hotel was destroyed in a blast in Balochistan’s Khadkocha tehsil of Mastung on Monday night, while nearby houses were partially damaged, Mastung Superintendent of Police Allah Bakhsh told The Express Tribune on Tuesday.

The Madina Hotel was completely destroyed, and more than 250 solar panels were also damaged in the blast.

SP Bakhsh said that no one was present inside the hotel at the time, which is why there were no casualties. He said an investigation into the incident was under way, while a search operation was also being conducted in the area.

Following the explosion, police cordoned off the area and began collecting evidence from the site.

On June 30, three brothers were killed and another person was injured when an IED struck a vehicle in Dukki district’s Luni tehsil. Police said the vehicle was targeted while the four men were travelling through a stream near Killi Bakhtiar Khan for agricultural work.

On June 25, a man was killed in Ormara, Gwadar district, when an IED attached to a motorcycle exploded as he attempted to start the vehicle. Police later cordoned off the area and launched an investigation into the incident.
