Pete Davidson suffered two concussions after doing his own movie stunts

Pete Davidson revealed that he suffered two concussions within three weeks while filming an independent movie, saying he chose to perform his own stunts before the injuries.

The former Saturday Night Live comedian discussed the injuries during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on September 28. Davidson wore sunglasses during the interview and explained that he currently has to avoid bright lights as part of his recovery.

Davidson said he sustained the two concussions while working on the unnamed indie film. He explained that he had the option of using a stunt double but decided to perform the scenes himself because he felt the difference in their appearances would be noticeable on screen.

“It was an indie movie,” Davidson said, explaining that his stunt double was significantly taller and larger than him. He said the size difference made it difficult for the double to convincingly stand in for him during the scenes.

Following the injuries, Davidson visited a doctor to assess the severity of his concussions. He also described undergoing a concussion test during the medical evaluation, recalling that he struggled to repeat a series of words given to him by the doctor.

Davidson said he has been advised to avoid bright lights until mid-November. He has continued wearing sunglasses to help with the sensitivity to light.

During the interview, Davidson also joked about the situation, maintaining his usual comedic tone while discussing the injuries.
