Netflix’s 'Unabomber' has reached No. 1 on worldwide movie chart just one day after its release

Netflix crime thriller Unabomber has reached No. 1 on the streaming service’s worldwide movie chart just one day after its release.

The film, starring Russell Crowe and Jacob Tremblay, arrived on Netflix on September 25 and had already claimed the top position globally by the following day, according to FlixPatrol.

Unabomber has also reached No. 1 in several individual markets, including the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Germany and Italy. The film currently ranks ahead of Best of the Best, A Minecraft Movie, The Whisper Man and Black Adam on the worldwide chart.

ScreenRant described the early performance as making Unabomber the “most-watched movie in the world”, based on its position across Netflix’s global rankings.

Directed by Janus Metz, the crime thriller follows Ted Kaczynski, beginning with his time as a young Harvard student before moving into the investigation that eventually led to his arrest.

Tremblay portrays the younger Kaczynski, while Crowe plays Harvard professor Henry Murray. The film explores the psychological experiments Kaczynski participated in during his time at Harvard before shifting to the investigation surrounding his crimes.

Shailene Woodley, Annabelle Wallis, Alexander Ludwig, Steven Ogg and Marc Menchaca also appear in the cast.

Unabomber’s performance comes despite negative reception on Rotten Tomatoes from both critics and audiences. Its position on Netflix’s worldwide chart indicates that the film has attracted viewers despite its reception.
