Bebe Rexha reveals how Taylor Swift supported her during 2019 Grammys dress struggle

Rexha recalled how Swift offered help when several designers reportedly declined to dress her because of her size

Bebe Rexha has recalled how Taylor Swift supported her during a difficult period before the 2019 Grammy Awards, when several designers reportedly declined to dress her because of her size.

Speaking at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, September 27, Rexha discussed Swift’s support during a red-carpet interview with E! News.

“I remember when I had that whole Grammys situation when I couldn’t find a dress and she reached out to me because we’re the same age, and I thought that was really, really kind of her,” Rexha said.

“Nobody really reached out,” she continued. “Some people did, but for her at such a high level to make me feel like I belonged was really, really nice.”

Ahead of the 2019 Grammys, Rexha had publicly discussed her difficulty finding a designer willing to create a dress for her.

She said at the time that she wore a size 6-8 and criticised fashion designers who excluded women based on their size.

“So I finally get nominated at the Grammys and it’s like the coolest thing ever,” Rexha reflected.

“And a lot of times artists will go and talk to designers and they’ll make them custom dresses to walk the red carpet. So I had my team hit out a lot of designers and a lot of them do not want to dress me because I’m too big,” she said.

Rexha ultimately wore a red, tiered tulle halter ball gown designed by Monsoori to the 2019 Grammy Awards.

She also addressed the wider issue in a since-deleted Instagram post, writing, “Empower women to love their bodies instead of making girls and women feel less then by their size. We are beautiful any size! Small or large!”

Designer August Getty subsequently offered to create a Grammy gown for the singer.
