Ed Sheeran’s Gillette Stadium concerts are canceled due to severe weather, with refunds available for ticket holders

Ed Sheeran’s two scheduled concerts at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, have been canceled because of severe weather expected across New England, TMZ reported.

Sheeran was scheduled to perform at the home of the New England Patriots on Friday, September 25, and Saturday, September 26, as part of his LOOP Tour. Stadium and tour management, along with public safety officials, had been monitoring the forecast before deciding to cancel both shows.

The decision comes as a powerful nor’easter moves toward the region, bringing concerns about heavy rain and strong winds. Foxborough was forecast to receive significant rainfall, with wind gusts potentially reaching 40 mph, according to weather reports cited by TMZ.

A representative for Gillette Stadium said the cancellation was made with the safety of fans, staff and everyone involved in the concerts as the top priority. Ticket refunds are available at the point of purchase, while Ticketmaster customers are set to receive automatic refunds.

The cancellation follows a turbulent period surrounding Sheeran’s tour. Macklemore was removed from the Gillette Stadium dates after controversy surrounding comments he made during an earlier performance. Sheeran’s backing band and other tour openers subsequently withdrew from the tour in solidarity with Macklemore, leaving Sheeran to perform solo at a recent Philadelphia concert.

A protest had also been planned outside the Gillette Stadium concert on Saturday by Massachusetts Peace Action in connection with the controversy surrounding Macklemore. However, the concerts have now been canceled because of the severe weather rather than the planned demonstration.
