Hayden Panettiere reportedly entered rehab weeks before her death

Hayden Panettiere had reportedly spent several weeks in a Malibu rehabilitation facility shortly before her death, according to a newly released coroner’s report obtained by Page Six.

The Heroes and Nashville actress died on August 16 at age 36 in Greenville, South Carolina. The Greenville County Coroner’s Office has ruled her death accidental and determined that it resulted from the toxic effects of fentanyl, 4-ANPP, alprazolam, methocarbamol and quetiapine. The autopsy found no trauma that contributed to her death.

According to the report, one of Panettiere’s former partner Brian Hickerson or his brother, Zach, told authorities that the actress had been in a drug rehabilitation facility in Malibu until several weeks before her death. Panettiere’s father, Alan “Skip” Panettiere, also reportedly confirmed that she had recently completed a two- or three-week stay in rehab.

The report also included information about Panettiere’s previous struggles with substance use. Her father reportedly told investigators that she had dealt with addiction since her early 20s and had attended multiple rehabilitation facilities.

Panettiere’s death remains connected to an ongoing investigation. Authorities have been examining circumstances surrounding the drugs involved, while her representative previously urged the public to wait for verified information as the investigation progressed.

The official findings confirm fentanyl and several other substances as contributing to Panettiere’s death, which the coroner classified as accidental.

Panettiere was best known for her roles in Heroes and Nashville, as well as appearances in the Scream franchise.
