Frankie Muniz has shared a family photo with his estranged wife Paige Price and their son Mauz, following his recent social media post about reaching “rock bottom” during a difficult period.
The Malcolm in the Middle star shared a selfie on Instagram on Saturday showing himself with five-year-old Mauz and Price.
Muniz captioned the photo: “Post soccer shenanigans with the fam. Our little dude got a medal for excellence in sportsmanship.”
“The last 6 weeks of my life have been a nightmare I'm praying to wake up from. Everything felt heavy, unclear, and like it was falling apart at the same time. I wouldn't wish this season on anyone,” Muniz wrote.
He said the experience had also given him an opportunity for self-reflection.
“The unexpected gift in the middle of it is that I've had nowhere to hide. I've had time to sit with myself, do real self-reflection, and finally see the areas of my life that need work if I want to become a better version of me. Not the polished version I show the world...the actual one,” he continued.
Muniz said he believed he would eventually look back on the period differently, adding: “In five years I believe I'll look back at this exact low point and feel grateful for it, because the high I'll be standing on then only exists because I went through this.”
He ended his statement by writing: “This isn't the end of the story. It's the part where I start doing the work...the uncomfortable, unglamorous, necessary work. I'm choosing to treat this season as the foundation, not the finish line.”
Muniz and Price announced their separation in July after 10 years together. The couple eloped in October 2019 before holding a formal wedding ceremony in February 2020. They welcomed Mauz in 2021.
In July, Muniz also wrote: “Man, I hate saying goodbye to my son. You'd think I'd be used to it by now, but it just gets harder and harder. Trusting in God to help get through this not so fun patch while trying to be fun for him.”
