Comedians rally around Carrot Top following hospitalisation

Several comedians and entertainers have shared messages of support for Carrot Top following the comedian’s hospitalisation in Las Vegas.

Dane Cook, Brad Garrett and Jeff Ross were among those who publicly reached out to Carrot Top, whose real name is Scott Thompson, after he was hospitalised on Friday. His representative confirmed that the 61-year-old comedian is recovering and receiving care and support.

Cook shared a video message on Instagram, describing Thompson as an “outstanding human being” and praising his talent and contributions to the comedy community. He wished his fellow comedian a “beautiful recovery” and said he hoped to see him return to performing.

Garrett also posted a message alongside a photograph of himself with Thompson and Ray Romano. He called Carrot Top a “beautiful, talented friend” and said they were all grateful that he was recovering, adding that he wanted Thompson to remember how appreciated he is.

Ross shared a photograph with Thompson and asked people who care about the comedian to leave messages of support in the comments. The post attracted thousands of likes and comments.

Debbie Gibson also shared a message, encouraging people to check on their friends, particularly those who regularly bring joy to others. Actress Erin Murphy similarly sent Thompson “thoughts, prayers and healing wishes”, reminding her followers that people may be dealing with struggles others cannot see.

Thompson’s representative, Jami Schlicher, previously said that he is recovering in hospital and that his family and those closest to him are grateful for the concern and prayers, while asking for privacy. His Friday and Saturday performances at the Luxor in Las Vegas were cancelled following his hospitalisation.

Carrot Top has been a longtime Las Vegas performer, with his residency at the Luxor becoming one of the city’s longest-running comedy shows. He has not publicly commented on his hospitalisation.
