Police were seen outside Carrot Top’s Las Vegas home after the comedian was hospitalised on Friday.

The 61-year-old entertainer, whose real name is Scott Christopher Thompson, was reportedly taken to a Las Vegas-area hospital following an apparent suicide attempt. His representative, Jami Schlicher, confirmed that Thompson was recovering in hospital and receiving care and support.

Photos obtained by The Mirror showed multiple police vehicles outside Thompson’s Las Vegas residence on Friday afternoon. The reason for the police presence has not been publicly detailed.

Thompson’s representative said his family and those closest to him were “deeply grateful” for the concern surrounding his condition and asked for privacy as he recovers.

His Friday night performance at the Luxor, where he has maintained a long-running Las Vegas residency, was cancelled following his hospitalisation. MGM Resorts also confirmed that Thompson was recovering and said the company was thinking of him during the situation.

Carrot Top has been performing professionally since the early 1990s and became known for his distinctive red hair and prop-based comedy. He has maintained his Las Vegas residency for decades.

The comedian’s representative has not provided further details about his condition or the circumstances surrounding the police presence at his home.
