Brittany Snow marks 17 years of eating disorder recovery with emotional message
Snow credited her friends and family for supporting her through the difficult early stages of recovery

Brittany Snow has marked 17 years of recovery from an eating disorder, reflecting on a period in her life when she could not imagine reaching the future she has today.
The 40 year old actress shared an Instagram post on September 17 marking the anniversary of the decision she described as choosing to stop hurting herself. Snow said she once struggled to picture life beyond her eating disorder and did not know whether she would make it through that period.
Looking back, Snow credited the people around her for helping her during the early stages of recovery. She said her friends supported and listened to her, while her family continued to show her love. She also described an inner voice that encouraged her not to give up.
Snow used the milestone to address people who may currently be experiencing similar struggles. She said they are not alone and encouraged them to hold on to the possibility of a future that may currently be difficult to imagine.
She also reflected on how her own experience has changed the way she views recovery. Snow said being able to share hope with people facing similar circumstances has become one of the greatest gifts of making it through her own difficulties.
The actress has spoken publicly about her mental health and eating disorder history for years. In a 2025 interview with Self, she discussed receiving treatment for anorexia, exercise bulimia, depression and self harm. She also described struggling with negative feelings towards her body when she was younger.
Snow has continued to connect her personal experiences with her creative work. Her 2023 film Parachute, which marked her feature directorial debut, centres on a young woman dealing with body image and an eating disorder.
For Snow, the September 17 milestone represented a significant point in a recovery journey she once could not imagine completing.
