‘House of David’ to end with Season 3 as biblical drama enters final chapter

Production on final season is underway in Greece with Michael Iskander returning as David

Amazon’s biblical drama House of David will end with its upcoming third season, with production now underway in Greece. The announcement comes after Amazon MGM Studios and Wonder Project previously renewed the series for Season 3 in July without revealing that it would be the final instalment.

The creators had previously envisioned the story as a three season arc centred on David’s rise from an overlooked shepherd to the future king of Israel. Season 3 will now bring that planned story to its conclusion.

Executive producers Jon Erwin and Jon Gunn said the production had returned to Greece with its cast and crew and described the new season as the final chapter of the story they set out to tell. They also expressed gratitude to Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios for supporting the series.

Michael Iskander, who plays David, is returning for the final season alongside Ali Suliman as King Saul and Ayelet Zurer as Queen Ahinoam. The wider cast includes Indy Lewis, Yali Topol Margalith, Ethan Kai, Sam Otto, Oded Fehr, Louis Ferreira, Davood Ghadami, Aury Alby and Alexander Uloom.

Season 3 will follow David after his transformation into a warrior and his selection as future king. However, his path to the throne will not be straightforward. The official story description places David in exile, where he becomes a hunted outlaw and is forced to hide among his enemies while living under another identity.

The final season is expected to explore the personal cost of David’s journey, including betrayals, sacrifices and difficult choices before he can finally claim his destiny.

The series is produced by Wonder Project and Amazon MGM Studios, in association with Nomadic Pictures, Argonauts, Kingdom Story Company and Lionsgate Television. Dallas Jenkins, creator of The Chosen, serves as a shareholder and special adviser to Wonder Project.

The first two seasons of House of David are currently available on Prime Video, giving viewers an opportunity to revisit David’s journey before the final season arrives. No release date for Season 3 has been announced yet.
