Kelly Macdonald may currently be starring in DC series Lanterns, but the actress has revealed there is another hit show she would love to join.

Speaking to Metro, Macdonald admitted she had previously given Lanterns director James Hawes a hard time for not casting her in Slow Horses, the acclaimed Apple TV spy thriller starring Gary Oldman.

Macdonald said she already wanted to work on the project when Hawes contacted her about Lanterns, explaining that she loved the director and had been vocal about her interest in Slow Horses.

"I had given him a hard time previously for not having me cast in Slow Horses because I love that show," she told. "We love it as a family. I’m obsessed with Gary Oldman as well."

Her comments arrive as Slow Horses has launched its sixth season, with Oldman returning as Jackson Lamb. Apple TV confirmed the new season premiered on September 16, with six episodes scheduled to arrive weekly through October 21.

Macdonald is currently appearing as Sheriff Kerry Kane in Lanterns, where she stars alongside Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre. The DC series follows Hal Jordan and John Stewart as they investigate a murder in Nebraska, while Kane becomes increasingly connected to the mystery.

Macdonald also praised Chandler, describing him as easy to work with and saying his preparation created a positive atmosphere on set. She highlighted the contrast between Chandler's Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre's John Stewart, saying the pairing created a special combination.

The actress also addressed the possibility of returning as DCI Joanne Davidson in Line of Duty. Macdonald previously played the character in the sixth series, and the BBC crime drama is now returning for a seventh series. Macdonald has remained coy about whether Davidson will appear, while Robert Carlyle has joined the returning cast.
