A Minnesota woman’s mugshot has gone viral online after social media users pointed out her striking resemblance to singer and actress Jennifer Lopez.

Cyrena Anne Quast, 35, was arrested on Aug. 30 in Monticello, Minnesota, after she was accused of stealing two double packs of power tool batteries valued at about $580, according to a criminal complaint obtained by The Watch MN.

Authorities allege that a store employee recognised Quast from an earlier suspected theft and contacted police. Quast reportedly admitted to taking the battery packs and was booked on a gross misdemeanour theft charge, according to online arrest records.

However, the arrest gained attention online for a different reason. Quast’s mugshot, released by the Wright County Sheriff’s Office, prompted social media users to compare her appearance with Jennifer Lopez, 57.

Several users said they initially mistook the woman in the booking photo for Lopez. Others referenced Lopez’s 2002 song "Jenny from the Block" while commenting on the resemblance, with some jokingly referring to Quast as "Jenny from D-Block."

The comparison quickly spread as the mugshot circulated across social media platforms, turning the Minnesota shoplifting case into an online viral moment.

Quast was reportedly released the day after her arrest, according to the Daily Mail.

Online records also indicate that the Aug. 30 arrest was not Quast’s first encounter with law enforcement. Records list previous arrests involving allegations including drug possession, driving while intoxicated, fleeing police and providing false identification, along with several traffic-related offences.

The viral reaction centres on Quast’s resemblance to Lopez, rather than the details of the alleged theft, as users continue sharing and commenting on the mugshot.
