Vince Gilligan reveals ‘Pluribus’ Season 2 is taking shape after major Emmy success

Vince Gilligan has mapped out the full Season 2 story, with two episodes already written

Vince Gilligan has given Pluribus fans a major update on Season 2, revealing that he and the writing team have already worked out the complete story for the next chapter of the Apple TV drama.

Speaking to reporters after the Emmys on September 14, Gilligan confirmed that the season has been fully outlined, although the scripts are not yet complete. He explained that the writers have worked out the plot for every episode, with the first two already written and the remaining instalments at different stages of development.

Gilligan said the process took some time, but the creative team has now reached an important point in developing the follow up. He also revealed that the writers will soon share their plans with Rhea Seehorn, who leads the series and won her first Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.

Seehorn admitted that she currently knows little about what is coming. The actor said she had heard the writers had outlined the season but had not completed all the scripts, leaving Gilligan as the person with the answers about the show's future.

The update arrives after a strong night for Pluribus at the 2026 Emmys. The series received 18 nominations and collected six wins, including Gilligan's victory for writing and Seehorn's acting award.

Gilligan previously created Breaking Bad and co created Better Call Saul, and developed Pluribus with Seehorn specifically in mind. He said her performance repeatedly exceeded his expectations, praising her work alongside co stars including Karolina Wydra, Carlos Manuel Vesga and Samba Schutte.

The creator has also acknowledged that viewers have interpreted Pluribus through themes including artificial intelligence, loneliness and loss. For now, Gilligan appears focused on developing Season 2 while allowing audiences to form their own interpretations of the story. The first season is currently streaming on Apple TV.
