Sharon Osbourne has launched a blunt attack on Macklemore as the rapper faces fallout from his removal from Ed Sheeran’s US tour over his public support for Palestine.
Osbourne appeared to respond to an Instagram post about the controversy by calling Macklemore a "boring twat". The comment came after the rapper was removed from the remaining US dates of Sheeran’s LOOP TOUR following remarks he made during concerts at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
Macklemore performed on September 4 and 5 and used his appearances to voice support for Palestinians, including saying "Free Palestine" and showing images connected to the war in Gaza. His comments triggered criticism from several groups and led to calls for him to be removed from the tour.
The tour promoter Messina Touring Group subsequently said venues on upcoming dates had informed the organisers that they would not allow concerts to proceed with Macklemore on the lineup. As a result, the rapper was removed from the remaining support dates.
Macklemore has since claimed that Robert Kraft, owner of the New England Patriots and Gillette Stadium, played a central role in the decision. He alleged that Kraft told Sheeran he would not be allowed to perform at Gillette Stadium if Macklemore remained on the bill and that other stadium owners were also brought into the dispute.
Kraft later confirmed that he opposed Macklemore performing at Gillette Stadium. In a statement reported by Variety, Kraft cited the rapper’s recent actions and what he described as a broader history of antisemitic rhetoric and imagery. He also said his decision was based on the venue’s commitment to preventing events from becoming platforms for hate speech.
Macklemore has defended his position, saying his support for Palestinians remains unchanged. His dispute with Sheeran and the venues has now become one of the most contentious music stories surrounding the tour, while Osbourne’s insult has added another celebrity voice to the growing backlash.
