Stephen Root confirms GTA 6 voice role as Brian Heder

Stephen Root confirms he voices Brian Heder in GTA 6, after fans recognised his voice in Netflix footage

Stephen Root has confirmed that he voices a character in Grand Theft Auto 6, following speculation that his distinctive voice could be heard in footage released by Rockstar Games.

Root confirmed his involvement in a brief interview with the Associated Press, which asked the actor whether he would appear in the upcoming game.

“Yeeaahhh, you’re gonna see me in that,” Root said.

The actor will voice Brian Heder, described as a drug trafficker and an important character in the adventures of GTA 6 protagonists Jason and Lucia.

Root’s involvement had already been suspected by some fans after his voice was heard in footage from GTA 6 that Rockstar officially revealed through a Netflix special. The actor also noted that people had been aware for around a year that he was expected to appear in the game.

Root has worked extensively across film and television during a career spanning four decades. His credits include Milton in Office Space, NewsRadio, O Brother, Where Art Thou?, King of the Hill, The West Wing, No Country for Old Men, True Blood, Justified and The Man in the High Castle.

More recently, Root has appeared in Barry and Widow’s Bay, alongside numerous voice acting roles.
