JK Rowling reportedly covers superyacht name amid protest fears
JK Rowling has reportedly covered the name of her superyacht amid concerns about possible protests, according to claims circulating online.
A Reddit post in the r/Fauxmoi community claimed that the billionaire author had been "forced to cover [the] name of her superyacht amid protest fears". The claim has since prompted discussion about the vessel and its reported name, Samsara.
The 290-foot yacht is reportedly worth around $150 million and includes a gym, pool, jacuzzi and elevator. It can reportedly accommodate up to 40 people, including guests and crew.
A marina resident previously told Surfer.com that Rowling's ownership of the vessel was "the worst-kept secret on the marina".
The reported decision to cover the yacht's name has also become a topic of discussion among Reddit users. One commenter wrote, "Summoning an orca," while another discussed the meaning of the name Samsara.
One Reddit user explained, "It's a Buddhist term that describes life as circular (no ending or beginning, just existence). However, it's also the name of a huge tech company that makes AI powered fleet cameras/trackers."
Another commenter linked the reported decision to Rowling's Harry Potter series, writing that it was "ironic coming from someone who chided characters for not calling Voldemort by his name and hiding behind a euphemism."
The yacht has previously attracted online attention during reported sightings in several locations. Reports said the vessel drew criticism after docking for fuel in Seattle, while sightings near Alaska and in Halifax, Nova Scotia, also prompted online discussion.
