AI-made RuneScape clone removed after Jagex takedown request
AI-made RuneScape clone Elderwood Realms has been taken offline after Jagex requested its website be removed

An AI-made RuneScape clone has been taken offline after developer Jagex requested that its website be removed.
Elderwood Realms was created by developer Rohan Varma after he asked GPT-6 Astra in Codex to “build RuneScape”.
The project developed into a multiplayer browser game featuring locations, skilling and combat inspired by the long-running MMORPG.
The game attracted thousands of players shortly after becoming available. Varma previously said that 3,000 accounts had been created within its first 24 hours, while players had spent more than 1,000 hours in the game.
However, Elderwood Realms is no longer playable following a notice from Jagex. A message now displayed on the game’s website confirms that the project has been discontinued.
“We received a notice from Jagex asking us to take down the website,” the statement reads. “Following that notice, we are discontinuing Elderwood’s operation, and the game is no longer available.”
The website’s closure follows criticism from some Old School RuneScape players over the similarities between Elderwood Realms and Jagex’s MMORPG. Players on the OSRS subreddit had called for Jagex to take action against the project before its removal.
Elderwood’s website will remain available in a limited capacity, with its high scores preserved as a record of players’ achievements before the game was shut down.
