Tom Hardy and Helen Mirren reunite at ‘MobLand’ premiere after fallout rumours

Their reunion follows earlier claims that Mirren was left waiting during filming amid production tensions

Tom Hardy and Helen Mirren have reunited publicly at the London premiere of MobLand Season 2, putting renewed attention on the rumours of tension that surrounded their working relationship earlier this year.

Hardy joined Mirren and Pierce Brosnan on the black carpet outside the Odeon Luxe in Leicester Square on Thursday, September 10, ahead of the second season premiere. The trio later appeared together on stage with creator Guy Ritchie and executive producer David Glasser, presenting a united front after months of speculation about Hardy’s future on the Paramount+ crime drama.

The reunion carries particular significance because reports in May claimed Hardy had experienced serious behind the scenes difficulties during production. Some reports alleged that the actor had been late to set and that Mirren and Brosnan had been left waiting to film. Other claims suggested disagreements involving Hardy, writer Jez Butterworth and producer David Glasser had placed his position on the series in doubt.

At one point, reports even suggested Hardy had been removed from MobLand. However, it was subsequently confirmed that Hardy had not been fired and that discussions were taking place to resolve creative differences. Sources also rejected suggestions that Mirren had fallen out with Hardy, with one source telling the publication that such claims were unfounded.

Mirren herself appeared to address the speculation in May when she shared a photograph of Hardy on social media alongside the message, "Love you now and always." She later spoke about the situation again, explaining that actors can have different working processes and making clear that she remained willing to work with Hardy.

That support now looks particularly significant following the pair’s appearance together at the Season 2 premiere. Hardy and Mirren were photographed alongside Brosnan, with the actors appearing comfortable together as they promoted the return of the crime drama.

Brosnan also addressed the speculation during the premiere period, dismissing reports of a serious feud with Hardy as "a storm in a teacup". He praised Hardy as a friend and said he was a major fan of the actor’s work. Brosnan also described himself, Hardy and Mirren as "rock solid as a company, as a family".

The evening also saw Ritchie offer strong praise for the three leads. Introducing Hardy, Glasser called him "the captain of our ship" and credited the actor with pushing the series creatively from its early stages through Season 2.

Ritchie was equally enthusiastic about Mirren, calling her an inspiration and a force of creativity before praising Brosnan and Hardy. He then crossed the stage to hug Hardy, reinforcing the celebratory tone of the event after the difficult reports surrounding production.

Mirren has also teased a darker and increasingly chaotic second season. Speaking about what audiences can expect, she described the new episodes as "Madder, badder, better", adding that they would be chaotic, cool, funny and frightening.

MobLand follows the Harrigan crime family, with Mirren playing ruthless matriarch Maeve Harrigan, Brosnan portraying her husband Conrad and Hardy starring as fixer Harry Da Souza. Paramount+ has confirmed that all three stars are returning for Season 2, which premieres September 18, while the series has already been renewed for a third season.
